Welcome to the Doodle Studio! I'm Tara, and I'm a seasoned Niagara Region quilter who can't get enough of free-motion quilting! I adore my APQS Lenni longarm and love to load her with beautiful quilts made by clever hands.  Not everyone likes all the steps to creating a quilt, and not everyone has the time to learn the skills or the money or space to purchase all the equipment used in finishing them. That is where I come in. I am obsessed with making sure that the quilts you make get finished and gifted and cherished as they were meant to be! I feel honoured when a quilter trusts me to do a swirl-job on the precious fruits of their labour. It's a thrill to see their eyes light up when they see their quilt after a refreshing quilty upgrade.  I live to add a little free-motion flare to every quilt that enters the Doodle Studio! If you love the durability of machine quilting but want a unique design, I can finish your quilt with a never-seen-before motif blend that can incorporate elements of your fabric, quilt design or personality. From edge-to-edge to custom designs, a handguided design is never done the same way twice!
I WRITE ON QUILTS
I just use a really big stitch-pen
I love to incorporate words, lyrics to songs, poems and other meaningful text into quilting projects. I can literally make it say EXACTLY what you want the recipient to hear! Looking for that extra sentimental reaction? The right words will nab' em every single time!
QUALITY
...as though it were my own
Every quilt that gets loaded onto my longarm is treated with care. I apply the same standard to your project as I would to my own, using quality materials, and taking the time to get the job done with pride.
COMMUNICATION
Know what to expect
I will be honest with you about what to expect, what I can and can't do with your quilt. You will have a reasonable estimate of the time and materials needed, and any adjustments will be reviewed with you prior to proceeding. You are always in charge with your project.
FINISHING
I do that, too!
Different quilters like different steps in the quilting process. You get to choose which steps you want to spend your time on! If you hate binding, then you don't have to do it! And if you love the meditative nature of hand-stitching your binding on, I can send your quilt home to you, trimmed, with the binding attached to the front, ready for you to get straight to your hand-stitching zen moment! Need a label to make the quilt complete, I create and can apply custom inkjet printed labels made to order!
PHOTOGRAPHY
Document, Document, Document
I log all my finishes with a professional quality snapshot and a post on social media with your permission. Many clients love to share the photos and reels to their social media accounts or save them for their own records. For a fee, I can provide an more extensive photo shoot of your finish in nature or in a local public setting.

I'd made a quilt top before that pandemic hit, and just folded it and added it to my pile. Tara almost drooled at the negative space, so when she got her longarm set up, I invited her to have a go at my top. (Sergeant Pepper, by Abbey Lane Quilts, in a few Tula Pink prints and solids). When we met to discuss possible motifs, she asked if I would like any words or a quotation, and I came up with our family's "Andy song". She asked if there were any objects or hobbies that were important to him, so I rhymed off five, and three of them made their way into the quilting, as well as the complete lyrics to "When I Get Where I'm Going", by Brad Paisley. Ask Tara for more photos, as she transformed my work into a masterpiece tribute to my late husband.
